The Doulas

Candice Beck

My name is Candice and I have been a doula for about a year and a half. My own birthing experience and then learning what doulas are set me on the doula path, eventually I chose to certify through Childbirth International. I have one child and she is five years old. We practiced attachment parenting as well as babywearing. I enjoy teaching my clients how to wrap their babies. My goal as a doula is to give mothers the ability to have an educated and empowered birth, however it may happen. I will support all mothers and types of birth. In addition to birth doula services I also offer belly casting and henna, placenta encapsulation, and postpartum support. In the future I plan on training in more areas, lactation and massage therapy are the two that I want to do next.

After my 2 wonderful midwife attended natural hospital births just the way I wanted, I knew I wanted to help other women have exactly the type of birth that they wanted too.  I recently graduated with my PhD in Medical Anthropology, and also hold a Masters in Public Health.  I am well-read and informed on all types of birth around the world, and look forward to helping you plan the way you want your birth to be.  I am working on completing my DONA (Doulas of North America) certification by the end of this year.  I love attending births, and can't wait to help you bring your new little one(s) into this world.

I am a certified birth doula, postpartum doula, childbirth educator, and lactation educator. I have trained with ICEA, DONA, CAPPA, Birth Arts International, and Hypnobabies. Since 2010, I have attended about 50 births. My bachelors degree is in Women's Studies with an emphasis in gender, sexuality, and public health and I am a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES). I am currently in school working on my teaching license in Health and PE Teaching. I hope to one day teach health full time and become a part-time doula trainer. I have two totally amazing children, one born in the hospital via induction and one born at home with a midwife, so I can speak to both experiences. In my (very limited!) free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, road trips, vegan cooking, dancing, music, and playing board games.
